Privacy Policy
What we collect
- Account info: name, email, phone, password (stored scrambled, never in plain text), role (client or operator), company name, and the profile details you add, such as equipment, service area, experience and bio.
- Job info: what you post, including the title, description, general location, the private site address and access notes, photos, and budget.
- Marketplace activity: bids, hires, job status, disputes and the photos and statements in them, reviews and ratings.
- Messages: what you send other users through DirtBidder. When a phone number, email or link is hidden from the other person before hiring, we keep the original text.
- Payment info: amounts, fees and payout status. Your card and bank details go straight to Stripe. We only keep a reference ID from Stripe.
- Technical info: basic server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages or requests made. We keep these to keep the site secure and working.
Photos you upload are shrunk on your device before upload, and that process removes hidden location (GPS) data from them.
How we use it
- To run the Service: showing jobs and bids, holding and releasing payments, handling disputes, and showing reviews and badges.
- To send you emails about your account and jobs, such as new bids, hires, completion, payments, disputes, reviews and password resets.
- To prevent fraud and abuse and to enforce our Terms.
- To follow the law, including tax and payment rules.
Who can see what
- Operators browsing jobs see the job title, description, general location (town and ZIP), photos and budget. They don't see the client's name, contact info or exact address.
- Clients reviewing bids see the operator's company name, bid, rating, badges, and the profile details the operator added.
- Before hiring, a client can choose to share a job's exact site address and map pin with one operator so they can look at the site. Only that operator sees it, and the client can stop sharing at any time.
- After a client hires and pays, only that operator sees the exact site address, access notes and the client's phone number.
- Messages are seen by the client and the operator in that conversation. They aren't public. DirtBidder can read messages, bids and job posts to settle disputes, enforce our Terms and prevent fraud.
- Reviews are shown with the reviewer's first name and the job title.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:
- Stripe, for payments, payouts and identity checks required for payouts
- Resend, to deliver our emails
- Railway and Vercel, which host our servers, database and website
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect people's safety or our rights
- A buyer or successor, if DirtBidder is ever sold or merged. They would be bound by this policy.
How long we keep it
We keep account and job records while your account is open. We also keep payment and dispute records for as long as tax and financial laws require. When you close your account, we delete or anonymize what we don't need to keep.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), store passwords scrambled, keep private addresses restricted, and let Stripe handle payment details. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.
Your choices
- You can update your name, phone, company and profile under Settings and Edit Profile.
- You can ask for a copy of your information, or for it to be corrected or deleted, by emailing us. We'll respond within 30 days.
- Emails about your jobs and payments are part of the Service. We don't send marketing email without your permission.
Kids
DirtBidder is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
